One person should offer to be the Reader and read all directions aloud.
One person who is comfortable with Google Slides should be the Recorder.
One person should be the TimeKeeper to keep things moving.
You have 10 minutes for this activity.
"Headlines" introduction - Starting with the Reader, state your Newspaper Headline of who you are ... no long introductions and explanations ... simply, your name, title, district, and what would the headline of an article about you say. For example, "Dr. Nancy Sulla - President of IDE Corp. in Ramsey, NJ - passionate about executive function as the missing link to student achievement" When you finish, call on the next person you see on your screen who has not offered a headline yet. The Recorder should write down the order of the speakers for direction 2!
2. What do you hope to take away from today's workshop experience. Each group member should come up with the "headline" of what you hope to learn and remember it or write it down. Meanwhile . . .
3. The Recorder should access the PowerPoint slides "Scenarios" and read the directions on the first slide. If you wish, share your screen with your team.
4. Starting with the Reader, state your headline of what you hope to take away from the day. The Recorder will add it to the group's slide.
With the time you have left, share the following with one another . . .
a. Think about the students with whom you work. To what extent are you dealing instead with learning difficulties (but not behavioral problems). Answer with often, somewhat, rarely. Using the same order as last time, just go around the group and share your answer (no explanations yet.)
b. Think about the students with whom you work. To what extent are you and your colleagues dealing with behavioral problems? Answer with often, somewhat, or rarely. Using the same order as last time, just go around the group and share your answer (no explanations yet.)
c. Share any success stories from the group for strategies that have worked for addressing student dysregulation or building executive function.
